Flat Air Bearings – HPR, HPC series

INTENDED USE AND APPLICATIONS

HPR e HPC (High Precision Rectangular e Circular) series can be used when light and precise guide and support systems are necessary. Their versatile use enables the planner to solve even the most complex problems.


They can be used in a wide range of applications:

  • guide systems for metrology/quality control (CMM, optical testing, etc.)
  • machine tools for light machining (laser, micro-milling, electrical discharge, etc)

FEATURES

The new series of HPR and HPC flat air bearings are manufactured in aluminium with a hard oxidised treatment and are normally supplied with an adjustable pivoting ball pin, a locking ring nut and an anti-torque pin (see Accessories for Air Bearings). They can also be combined with stationary pivoting pins.
The rectangular HPR series guides are preferred to the HPC guides when a more favourable lift force-dimensions ratio is required.
The pin is inserted in the specific position with the OR, built into the air bearing's unit.
The spherical coupling between the pin and the pad enables fine self-alignment of the air bearing's to the sliding surface.
By turning the threaded pin you can finely adjust the functioning meatus (especially for opposing air bearings) and axis alignments: having completed the adjustment the locking ring unit stops.

The anti-torque pin must enter a specific perforation created ad hoc on the pad assembly part and prevents rotation of the air bearing's.
The fittings and pneumatic piping can be supplied as optionals.

LEGEND:
h* = meatus in which the maximum stiffness develops
L = lift force with meatus h*
R = stiffness with meatus h*
Q = air consumption with meatus h*

The aerostatic performances in the table refer to a 4 bar pressure (relative) supply.
Lift force, stiffness and consumption vary and are directly proportional to pressure variation
around 4-7 bar.

RECTANGULAR series (HPR 1...5):
Models from 12 to 632 daN with an operating lift force of 4 bar.
